In 1969 Danish cabinetmaker Hans Gustav Ehrenreich (1917–1984) designed a cheerful dome-shaped character on two feet with a spring for a body. Ehrenreich called his toy the Hoptimist and a Danish fad was born. Five years later, production was stopped and the Hoptimist had its last bounce—or so it seemed. In 2009, Danish designer Lotte Steffensen joined forces with Hans Gustav's son, Jørn Ehrenreich, to bring the Hoptimist back to life. Named Bimble, this mirthful Hoptimist is carved oak with marquetry eyes, just like the original. Made in Denmark.
