The Danish Japanese Connection: Madam Blå in Tokyo

By Susan Rogers Chikuba

Tokyo Station is not the capital’s busiest hub (that would be Shinjuku), but you’d hardly know it. Inside the ticket gates and deep within the terminal on the Yaesu side is Keiyo Street, a corridor bustling each morning with a two-way stream of workers coming in from the Chiba suburbs and tourists heading out to Disney Resort, the flow reversed at night. Madam Blå is where they stop for fresh salads, hearty roast pork and smoked salmon sandwiches, and grilled entrées between trains. The Denmark-inspired menu also offers organic coffees, teas, sodas and elderflower cordial.
