Warmth. Accessibility. Honesty. These, the core values of the Skagen brand, guided us in the making of Horisont, a new book of photography celebrating the culture and aesthetic sensibility of Denmark. Created in collaboration with Dutch design consultancy UXUS, Horisont has a particular focus on picturesque, windswept Skagen, the town from which we take our name. In its pages we set out to capture and share the DNA of the 25-year-old Skagen brand as it moves into the future, and we hope you're as pleased with the end result as we are.
Horisont features the work of noted Danish photographer Ditte Isager, best known for her contributions to two books on famed Noma chef René Redzepi. Here, Isager captures the beauty and charm of Denmark as only a Danish native could. In addition to imagery, Horisont contains detailed interviews with Danes from across generations and geography. They range from Copenhagen creatives to the straightforward, down-to-earth “Skabrow,” as the residents of Skagen are known.
The book, whose title means “horizon” in Danish, is available in softcover and Eskaboard as well as bound in oak-panel and linen. In each, a horizontally divided cover design emphasizes the endless horizon as can be seen from any coast in Denmark.
Produced in a limited edition of 350, Horisont is printed and hand-bound in Amsterdam.
