The Danish Japanese Connection: Tokyo Restaurant in Copenhagen

By Helen Russell

Copenhagen’s Tokyo Restaurant was the first Japanese eatery in Scandinavia, founded in 1964. Chef Teruro Nakazawa has made the place an institution among the Japanese community and Danes looking for an authentic Japanese experience. “There has been a long friendship between Denmark and Japan and we have always felt welcome here,” says Nakazawa: “Danish food is already big in Japan.”
